Asheville Music Hall
Biography & Highlights
The line outside 31 Patton Ave usually snakes down the sidewalk before the doors even unlock. You are standing right in the middle of downtown Asheville, and the bass is already rattling through the pavement. The door guy checks IDs fast and takes cash or card without looking up. You walk in and the heat hits you immediately.
The floor is sticky and the ceiling hangs low over the stage. It is a wide, open room where everyone packs tight against the rails as soon as the opening notes drop. Sound bounces hard off the concrete and brick walls, making the kick drum punch straight through your chest. Bartenders sling drinks three deep at the counter because nobody has time to wait around.
People are spilling out of the pit to catch a breather near the back exit. The air smells like cheap draft beer and sweat. You can barely hear your friends talk when the amplifiers start humming. Show's just getting loud now.
